Haines Alaska Lodging and Accommodations

A Sheltered Harbor Lodging is located on the waterfront in scenic Haines Alaska. Our lodging offers all the coziness of a Bed & breakfast (B&B) but the comfort and amenities of a hotel or motel.

We feel that our lodging offers the best view in Haines Alaska and is very affordable. Our location is very easy to find, we are located at 57 Beach Rd, just 1 block past the 0 mile location of the Haines highway.

This is right at the bottom of the hill of the Historic Fort William H. Seward District. This places you within easy walking distance to the downtown business district.

There are several restaurants and museums located in the historic district and walking tour maps of the area are available. The beach is right across the street for the lodging. In the summers many of the local children enjoy playing on the beach and swimming. There are many wildflowers growing along the beach, this makes for very enjoyable nature walks. Eagles are seen daily from the deck of the Sheltered Harbor lodging. Whales, dolphins are seen often in the summers; bears and moose are also occasionally seen. Moose like to wander into the back yard to nibble on the cherry trees in winter. The northern lights are seen very frequently from September to May.

The owners of the business are longtime members of the area with many ties to the community and are looking forward to assisting in making your visit to Alaska unforgettable. They know a lot about the area and are happy to provide you with information on local tours and things to do.

Famous Breakfasts

Our breakfast has the reputation of being “The Best In Town”.

While most establishments are serving continental breakfasts—we are one of the few to serve a full hot home cooked—all-you-can-eat breakfast.  A typical breakfast which is served family style consist of: buttermilk pancakes, sausage, yogurt, assorted hot or cold cereals, fresh baked muffins, fruit salad (with fresh fruit as seasonally available), breads for toasting with butter or margarine, honey, homemade jams, peanut butter or syrup for toppings plus an endless coffee/tea/juice bar.  The breakfast menu may be varied with french toast, egg casserole, blueberry pancakes, ham or bacon—the menu is based on cook’s choice.

The cook does attempt to provide substitute items for those with special dietary issues.  We always offer plenty of food to fill you up for a great start to your day.
